We are now called “filigree.” This word suggests something that is valuable, intricate, delicate, yet made from the strength of metal. It is an art that consists in curling, twisting and plaiting fine, pliable threads of gold, silver or copper and uniting them in contact with each other, interlacing from one strand to another. This is something
women inherently do -- depending on each other, relying on each other’s strengths,
yet being intrinsically beautiful in their own right.
